  MAHATMA GANDHI Mahatma Gandhi, an apostle of non-violence and preacher of truth, was born on October 2 nd , 1869 in Gujarat. The full name of Gandhi is Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi. He was a great freedom fighter who led India as a leader of nationalism against British rule. He is also knowns as Father of Nation. The honorific Mahatma which means great-souled in Sanskrit first applied to him in 1914   in South Africa, is now used throughout the world.   Early life and Background : Gandhi was born to a couple Karamchand Gandhi and Putlibai Gandhi. Throughout his school days, he remained a shy boy but was a good regular student. He later went to England to study law and become a barrister. Then he returned to India and began to practice at Bombay high court. But he was not interested in the legal profession.   Struggle for Indian Independence : He spent 21 years in South Africa, where he developed his political views ethics and politics. Abdul Kalam   Early life and Education: The full name of Abdul kalam is Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen Abdul Kalam . He was born on 15 of  October in 1931 to a Tamil Muslim family in Rameshwaram.  His father Jainulabdeen was a boat owner and his mother Ashiamma was a housewife. By his early childhood, Kalam's family had become poor. In his school years, Kalam had average grades but he was described as a bright and hardworking student. He spent hours on his studies, especially mathematics. He graduated in physics in 1954, from University of Madras. He moved to  Madras  in 1955 to study aerospace engineering in  Madras Institute of Technology . Career as a Scientist: After graduating from the  Madras Institute of Technology  in 1960, Kalam joined the
